22.2.01

Support for enhanced reporting with Grafana 8.4.5

BMC Helix Dashboards now supports Grafana 8.4.5 to provide an enhanced experience of unified reporting and a consolidated view of data from applications across your environment.

Print the DWP Request Details dashboard

As a dashboard user, you can leverage an out-of-the-box printable dashboard to view the service request summary and print the required service request details in a PDF format. For more information, see Printable DWP Request Details.

Create advanced dashboards

Use the out-of-the-box and custom functions to create dashboards with advanced capabilities, such as sorting the dashboard, viewing column values cumulatively, and so on.

For more information, see Creating dashboards with advanced functions.

Modify custom calculated fields

As a tenant administrator or editor, modify an existing custom calculated field. After you edit or delete a custom calculated field, any existing dashboard that uses that calculated field will be automatically updated.

For more information, see Service Management query.

Enable the Snapshot feature for your account

By default, capturing a snapshot of your dashboards is disabled as a security measure. Only a tenant administrator or editor can enable the Snapshot from the Preferences section.

For more information, see Sharing and importing dashboards.

Modify the date and time format in BMC Helix Dashboards

For easier understanding and readability of date and time in dashboards based on your location, format them with a range of available options

For more information, see Modifying date and time format in dashboards.

Display dashboard events in calendar

To display dashboard events for a month in calendar format, use the Calendar community panel plug-in. Click the events in the calendar to view a list of events for a specific date.

For more information, see Out-of-the-box visualization plugins.

Monitor performance metrics of UNIX devices

Use the Metrics Data dashboard to collect and display the performance metrics of various UNIX devices in your tenant.

For more information, see Metrics Data dashboard.

Filter the Service Dashboard by services

By default, the Service Dashboard collects and displays data for your tenant's business and technical services. To view the data for a specific service type, filter the Service Dashboard by that service type.

For more information, see To filter the Service Dashboard by services.

22.2.00

The following video (4.14) provides an overview of the features added to BMC Helix Dashboards 22.2 release:

Show audit data from BMC Helix Portal

Dashboard users can use the Audit query type to retrieve audit data from the BMC Helix Portal resources such as users, groups, and so on.

For more information, see Audit query.

Filter dashboards data by multiple date ranges

To refine the data in panels based on different date ranges, you can add multiple date filters in your dashboards.

For more information about configuring additional date filters, see Setting up variables for dashboard queries, filtering data, and panel title values.

Automate dashboard queries by creating custom calculated fields

To automate dashboard queries, you can create custom calculated fields that can be used as a pre-defined SQL query for your dashboards. For example, you can create a custom calculated field for counting all open incidents without writing any manual SQL script.

For more information, see Service Management query

Embed dashboards or panels in third-party applications

For easier access, dashboard users can embed dashboards or panels within third-party applications.

For more information, see Sharing and importing dashboards.

Configure dashboard queries with suggestive query editors for Log and Events queries

You can easily configure queries by using the suggestive query editor for the following query types:

  • Log query
  • Event query

You can also use the Metrics browser to quickly find metrics and labels while you are configuring a Metric query.

For more information, see Building queries to fetch data.

Customize the additional BMC Community Dashboards

Use the additional dashboards created by the BMC Community from the Marketplace Content folder.

For more information, see Building a dashboard quickly from marketplace content.

Identify and track problems in the Problem Management Analysis dashboard

As a Problem Manager, you can use the Problem Management Analysis dashboard to view a count of all the problems, including the metrics about problems that are displayed in the dashboard.

The metrics displayed help you to analyze and find areas to improve the service desk process, which may include:

  • Addressing the problem tickets that have high and critical priorities first
  • Implementing processes to keep the problem resolution time low
  • Comparing the problem resolution and workaround rates to improve process efficiency, and so on.

For more information, see BMC Helix ITSM Problem Management Analysis dashboard.

View and track the logged ITSM tickets and requests

As a Service Desk Manager, you can access the Count of ITSM Tickets and Requests dashboard to view the historical data of all the ITSM process tickets and requests that are logged. The data displayed here helps you to track the total count of tickets and requests, the count of tickets and requests based on status or priority, and the trend of the number of tickets and requests for a selected time range.

For more information, see BMC Helix ITSM - Count of ITSM Tickets and Requests dashboard.

Support for adding and editing data sources is unavailable

Options to add a new data source and edit an existing data source are not available with the 22.2 release. If you have preconfigured data sources for BMC Helix Dashboards, they will continue to work. However, you will not be able to add a new data source or edit an existing one.

I thought one of the selling points to Dashboards was the ability to connect to external data sources. What is the reasoning behind "Options to add a new data source and edit an existing data source are not available with the 22.2 release. If you have preconfigured data sources for BMC Helix Dashboards, they will continue to work. However, you will not be able to add a new data source or edit an existing one. "
