Technical bulletin — Announcing the availability of TrueSight Operations Management installers with health check validation

What has changed in these installers?

These are refreshed installers for TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management version 11.3.04. These installers now include mandatory health check validations for all the Upgrade Impact issues found in the TrueSight Health Check Tool report. 

Who should download and run these installers?

Users who want to upgrade their TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management installations to version 11.3.04 must use these installers.

Why should I use these installers?

These installers will do the following:

  • Check for the upgrade readiness of your TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management environment before you start the upgrade.
  • Prevent you from continuing the upgrade process if there are Upgrade Impact issues in the TrueSight Health Check Tool report.

Will running these installers automatically resolve my issues?

No, it will not automatically resolve the issues. However, the validation checks will force you to resolve the Upgrade Impact issues reported by the TrueSight Health Check Tool before you start the upgrade process.

How is this helpful to me?

These installers help you avoid runtime upgrade issues by performing the following checks and suggesting user actions:

Whether the version of the TrueSight Health Check Tool in your environment is current or not.

Download and install the TrueSight Health Check Tool version 2.6.

Whether the TrueSight Health Check Tool was run in the 24-hour period preceding the upgrade process.

Run the Health Check Tool at least once in the 24-hour period preceding the upgrade process.
Whether the TrueSight Health Check Tool report contains issues or not.Resolve all the Upgrade Impact issues found in the report and start the upgrade process.

If I have upgraded the environment before this announcement, do I need to run these installers again?

If you have upgraded all your TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management instances to version 11.3.04, there is no need to run these installers again. However, you must apply the latest hotfixes released for version 11.3.04.

Do I need to apply any hotfixes after using these installers to upgrade?

Yes. After upgrading TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management to version 11.3.04, you must apply the latest hotfixes released for version 11.3.04.

Do I need to run the TrueSight Health Check Tool independent of these installers and when?

Yes. It is recommended that you run the TrueSight Health Check Tool before and after you upgrade, and resolve all the reported issues to ensure that your environment works smoothly.

Important

You must mandatorily run the TrueSight Health Check Tool at least once in the 24-hour period preceding the upgrade process.

From where can I download the TrueSight Health Check Tool, installers, and hotfixes?

  • Download the installers from the EPD website. See  Downloading the installation files.
  • Download the TrueSight Health Check Tool version 2.6 from the  FTP location  or  Knowledge Article
  • Download the hotfixes for TrueSight Presentation Server from this  FTP location.  and for TrueSight Infrastructure Management from this FTP location.

How can I upgrade to version 11.3.04 smoothly?

Do the following tasks:

  1. Review the  Troubleshooting version 11.3.04 upgrade and post-upgrade issues  topic to resolve common issues with the upgrade and post-upgrade tasks.
  2. Download these installers for TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management.
  3. Download, install, and run the latest version of the TrueSight Health Check Tool in the TrueSight Presentation Server and TrueSight Infrastructure Management environments that you plan to upgrade.
  4. Search for the Upgrade Impact issues in the TrueSight Health Check Tool report saved at the following location:
    • For TrueSight Presentation Server
      • (Windows)%TRUESIGHTPSERVER_HOME%\utility\TrueSightHealthCheck\reports
      • (Linux)$TRUESIGHTPSERVER_HOME$/utility/TrueSightHealthCheck/reports
    • For TrueSight Infrastructure Management
      • (Windows)%BPPM_SERVER_HOME%\utility\TrueSightHealthCheck\reports 
      • (Linux)$BPPM_SERVER_HOME$/utility/TrueSightHealthCheck/reports
  5. Resolve all the Upgrade Impact issues.
  6. Run the TrueSight Health Check Tool again and ensure that there are no Upgrade Impact issues found in the report.
