Installation and upgrade considerations for BMC Event Adapters

BMC Event Adapters is installed with the remote cell or the TrueSight Infrastructure Management server. Before installing, upgrading, or uninstalling BMC Event Adapters, ensure that the target system meets the installation requirement in this topic.

For 11.3.04 and 11.3.05 version

  • On Linux system, you must install Perl 5.14 with P5NCI library package for the SNMPv3 adapter to work. You do not need to install the library on Microsoft Windows systems.

    Best practice
    BMC recommends to configure the SNMPv3 adapter on the remote cell (which is not a part of the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server) with preinstalled Perl 5.14 and the P5NCI package. By default, the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server contains Perl 5.16 and the P5NCI package is not available.

For 11.3.06 version

  • On Linux system, you must install Perl 5.26.3 with FFI::Platypus package for the SNMPv3 adapter to work. You do not need to install the library on Microsoft Windows systems.
  • BMC recommends to configure the SNMPv3 adapter on the remote cell (which is not a part of the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server) with preinstalled Perl 5.26.3 and the FFI::Platypus package. By default, the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server contains Perl 5.16 and the FFI::Platypus package is not available.
