As a system administrator, you can upgrade both Java and .NET agents using the installation wizard, as presented in this topic, or you can upgrade the agent using the silent upgrade procedure.

After you upgrade an agent, it runs using the same log files and configuration, and the same agent policy and recording configuration apply.

Note

If you have a single TrueSight App Visibility Manager agent installation or upgrade directory that is used by multiple JVM processes, give the App Visibility agents unique names. See Installing the App Visibility server in the standalone mode using the wizard for more information.

Upgrade warning

If you have recently upgraded your TrueSight Operations Management with App Visibility Manager from version 11.0 to 11.0.00.003 (Fix Pack 3) and if you have configured it to work with SAML authentication type, do not upgrade that 11.0.00.003 setup to 11.3.01. The SAML authentication type does not work when you upgrade from version Fix Pack 3 with App Visibility Manager to 11.3.01.

Behavior of the agent and agent policy after upgrade

Upgrading the TrueSight App Visibility Manager agent does not change the agent policy files. Agent policy files are upgraded with the TrueSight App Visibility Manager server, and they contain the new features for the agents. The agent for Java and .NET continues to use the same agent policy files as before the upgrade.
