Upgrade process overview for the TrueSight Operations Management solution
Before starting the upgrade process, review the process flow diagram and the upgrade details described in the table that follows. Upgrade all components in your current environment before installing any new components that are licensed for your use.
Make sure that you back up the current version of the product before you start the upgrade process.
Upgrade process for TrueSight Operations Management
If you have the App Visibility Manager version 11.0.00.003 (Fix Pack 3) configured to work with the SAML authentication type, and want to upgrade your TrueSight Operations Management to version 11.3.01, you must also apply the Fix Pack version 11.3.02 for the SAML authentication type to work.
Steps and references to upgrade the solution
Upgrade the core components of TrueSight Operations Management.
Review the release notes and system requirements.
|Review the enhancements and verify that all system requirements are met before starting the upgrade.|
If you are upgrading from TrueSight Presentation Server 10.7 to 11.3.01, install Remedy Single Sign-On and migrate user data from Atrium Single Sign-On.
Before upgrading the TrueSight Presentation Server from 10.7 to 11.3.01, you must do the following:
If you are upgrading from TrueSight Presentation Server 11.0 to 11.3, directly upgrade Remedy Single Sign-On.
Before upgrading the TrueSight Presentation Server from 11.0 to 11.3, you must upgrade Remedy Single Sign-On, the authentication system.
Prepare the TrueSight Presentation Server for the upgrade.
To accommodate a data format change in the TrueSight Presentation Server, you must migrate the format of the data in the TrueSight Presentation Server before starting the upgrade.
Upgrade the TrueSight Presentation Server.
Perform remaining prerequisite tasks and upgrade the TrueSight Presentation Server.
Upgrade the component products in your environment.
Upgrade the TrueSight Infrastructure Management components.
A complete TrueSight Infrastructure Management upgrade requires that you upgrade the following components:
Upgrade the TrueSight App Visibility Manager Server components and the TrueSight App Visibility Manager agents for monitoring Java and .NET application servers.
All TrueSight App Visibility Manager components must use the same version:
Upgrade TrueSight Synthetic Monitor with Silk Performer and Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agent.
When you upgrade the TrueSight Synthetic Monitor, you must update the TrueSight App Visibility Manager Server components and the TEA Agent.

Upgrade TrueSight IT Data Analytics
The latest version of TrueSight IT Data Analytics.
If applicable, install new components and register them with the TrueSight Presentation Server.
Install the TrueSight Infrastructure Management components.
Install the TrueSight IT Data Analyticsproduct.
Install the TrueSight App Visibility Manager Server components and the TrueSight App Visibility Manager agents for monitoring Java and .NET application servers.
|Install BMC Real End User Monitoring Software Edition or Migrate from BMC Real End User Monitoring Virtual Edition.|
When you install BMC Real End User Monitoring Software Edition as a new component, you can begin using it as is. However, if you used BMC Real End User Monitoring Virtual Edition 2.7, you can install Software Edition of the product and migrate your data.

Following installation, you must register components with the TrueSight Presentation Server.
You do not need to register products following an upgrade.
