Installing Integration Service on Linux and Remote Cell on Linux, IBM AIX, or Solaris

This section provides instructions for installing the Integration Service on a Linux operating system and the Remote Cell on a Linux, IBM AIX, or Solaris operating system for the first time. 

Important

When you run this installer on a Solaris or AIX computer, the option for the Integration Service component is disabled as the Integration Service is not supported on these operating systems. You can install only the Remote cell on these operating systems.

Before you begin

  • BMC recommends that you use MobaXterm as the UI to install TrueSight Infrastructure Management on Linux computers.

To install Integration Service and Remote Cell 

Perform the following steps to install Integration Service on Linux and Remote Cell on Linux, IBM AIX, or Solaris operating system:

  1. Access one of the following locations and download the Integration Service installation program:

  2. Apply executable rights to all the installation files by running the following command: 

    chmod -R 755 installationDirectoryFolderName 

    installationDirectoryFolderName is the name of the folder that contains all the installation files.

    For example, chmod -R 755 Disk1

  3. On a command line, run the following command as a root user:
    ./install.sh
  4. On the Welcome page, click Next.
  5. On the License Agreement page, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.

    The preinstallation check utility verifies whether the computer meets the requirements for installing the Integration Service. If the preinstallation check fails, the errors or warnings are listed in the Notification page. In that case, ensure that you correct the issues, and restart the installation process.


    Note

    If you want to install an additional Integration Service, on the Existing Installed Instances Detected page, select Install a new instance of this application.

  6. On the Directory Selection page, retain the default directory (/opt/bmc/TSIMAgent), or select a directory of your choice, and click Next.
  7. On the Component selection page, select the components that you want to install, and click Next. The following table lists the components that you can install and the procedure to install and configure them:

  8. Review the Installation Preview page, and click Install to start the installation.
  9. On the Installation Summary page, click View Log to view the log file, or click Done to exit the installation.Review the Installation Preview page, and click Install to start the installation.

Notes

  • The remote cell is not supported on the Solaris Intel X86 platform.
  • The Integration Service is supported on computers running Linux as a guest operating system installed by using VMware.
  • You can check the version of the Integration Service in the installationDirectory/pw/pronto/bin/AGENT_VERSION file.
  • To replace a BMC Event and Impact Management cell, see Migrating event management from BMC Event and Impact Management to Infrastructure Management.
  • Installing multiple Integration Services on a single computer adds additional load on the computer in terms of CPU, IO, Memory, and TCP buffer.
