You can perform the following actions on a PATROL Agent:

To access a PATROL Agent

  1. In the navigation pane of the TrueSight console, click Configuration and select Managed Devices. In the Managed Devices table, the PATROL Agents are displayed under the associated Integration Services that are displayed under the corresponding Infrastructure Management Servers.

To deploy and install packages or uninstall monitoring solutions from a PATROL Agent

  1. Access the PATROL Agent that you want to deploy and install packages to, or uninstall monitoring solutions from.
  2. Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Deploy and Install Packages or Uninstall Monitoring Solutions, depending on the action that you need to perform. For more information, see Deploying packages to PATROL Agents using the TrueSight console and Uninstalling monitoring solutions from PATROL Agents.

To synchronize monitor instances with a PATROL Agent

  1. Access the PATROL Agent that you want to synchronize.
  2. Click the PATROL Agent action menu and select Synchronize Monitor Instance Information.

    This action triggers t
he PATROL Agent to resend all the instances that the Agent monitors to Infrastructure Management.

    Note

Perform this action only when you are sure that the monitor instance information from the PATROL Agent is out of sync with that on the Infrastructure Management server.

The synchronization process uses system resources heavily on both the Agents and the Infrastructure Management server.

To run a query on the PATROL Agent

You can run the PSL commands on PATROL Agents by using the Agent Query Tool and view the results in the tool.

User roles with the permission, Allow trusted connections to PATROL Agents do not require authentication for running a query via the Agent Query Tool.

If you want all users (irrespective of their permissions) to authenticate themselves before they run any queries, you need to enable authentication.

  1. Do the following:
    • (Windows) Open command prompt from the installationDirectory\truesightpserver\bin folder.
    • (Linux) Navigate to the installationDirectory/truesightpserver/bin folder.
  2. Run the tssh properties set askCredentialsForAQT <true/false> command
  3. Run the tssh properties reload command.

Log on to a new session of the Presentation Server to verify that the authentication screen is displayed for the Agent Query Tool.

The user credentials required for authentication are the same as that used for installing PATROL Agent (used for the PATROL default account).  After the user is authenticated, the credentials remain valid until:

  • The user is logged into the application
  • The user disconnects from the current Agent Query Tool session by clicking the Disconnect button.

Note

The ability to enable authentication is available only from version 11.3.02 of the product.
