Deployment system requirements
The following table lists the system requirements to set up VMware vCenter Server based on the size of the enterprise. To know the number of PATROL Agents required in your environment, see Determining the number of PATROL Agents required to monitor VMware vCenter Server.
|Size||Number of VMs||Number of PATROL instances||Number of parameters||BMC PATROL Agent and BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere|
|Small||500||8000||30,000||2 CPU (2 GHz), 4 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk space|
|Medium||1500||25,000||100,000||Dedicated 2 CPU (2 GHz), 4 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk space|
|Large||2500||45,000||175,000||Dedicated 4 CPU (2 GHz), 8 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk|
- For medium and large production VMware vCenter Server monitoring, all components must be installed on a 64-bit operating system and must run in 64-bit mode.
- The scalability information is based on the controlled and internal testing of BMC ProactiveNet Server, BMC ProactiveNet Integration Service, BMC PATROL Agent, and BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere. The provided values represent the maximum value recommended for each component. If you have reached the maximum value for any component, the other components might not be scaled beyond the actual value that you have used. For example, with 40,000 PATROL instances, if you are monitoring 175,000 parameters, you cannot scale the PATROL instances beyond 40,000.
BMC products are certified for use on supported operating system versions. BMC does not explicitly test for OS patches/updates that are released after a BMC product is released.
BMC products should work fine with minor updates to these supported operating systems. For assistance, please contact BMC Customer Support.
