BMC Helix Operations Management Metrics Data dashboard

As a tenant administrator, editor, or viewer, you can use the Metrics Data dashboard to view the performance metrics data of the devices in your environment and get an insight into the their health.

This dashboard uses the BMC Helix data source and the Metric query type.

For instructions on creating or editing dashboards, see Configuring dashboards, panels, and queries. For information about dashboard concepts, see Setting up dashboards.

What do I do if want to view data of devices that are not Windows or Linux?

You can create a copy of this dashboard to customize it. You can edit the filters in the copied dashboard to display data of devices that are not Windows or Linux. To know more about editing a dashboard, see Configuring dashboards, panels, and queries.

The following image shows the Metrics Data dashboard with sample data:

Note: Annotation data of 500 events visible

You can view the annotation data of 500 events on this dashboard. If you want to view the annotation data of more events, complete the following steps:

  1. Create a copy of this dashboard and save it with a different name.
  2. Open the copied dashboard and click the Dashboard settings icon .
  3. Go to Annotations and click Event.
  4. In the Size field, change the number according to your requirements.

To view the dashboard

Do the following:

  1. On the left navigation pane, hover your mouse over the Dashboards icon and click Manage.
  2. Click the Operations Management folder and then click Metrics Data.

    Tip: Quick access from the home page

    To quickly open the dashboard from the home page, mark it as a favorite by using the star icon. Additionally, after you open a dashboard, it is available under Recently viewed dashboards on the home page.

Description

Example

Device Name

Provides a list of devices whose data you can view. Select a device from this list.

Event

Provides a radio button that you can use to view or hide annotation data for an event.

If you choose to view the annotation data, you can see it as displayed in the following image:

Memory, CPU, Disk, Network

Display the percentage of memory, CPU, disk, and network usage for the selected device during the selected time period.

Memory

Displays a graph of the memory usage for the selected device during the selected time period.

CPU

Displays a graph of the CPU usage for the selected device during the selected time period.

Disk

Displays a graph of the disk usage for the selected device during the selected time period.


Network

Displays a graph of the network usage for the selected device during the selected time period.


Events

Displays the events that arrived on the selected device in the selected time period.

  1. Device Name: Shows the list from where you can select a device from this list.
  2. Event: Shows the toggle key that you can use to hide or show the event annotation data on the panels. Annotation data is plotted as a dotted red line on a panel.
    If you selected to show the event annotation data, you can see the annotation points plotted on the graphs in the panels that use graph for data visualization. You can hover over an annotation point on a graph to view event details:
