Go-live phase

The target milestone for this phase is the customer going live on BMC Service Management Cloud. This phase is intended to take place within one to two weeks of UAT sign-off.

The following table provides the detailed process step that continues from the diagram on User-acceptance-test-phase.

Step

Description

24. Production cutover

The production cutover moves all users and integrations to the to-be-production system.

Several activities are performed prior to the cutover outage.

This process always involves a replication of the onboarding database to the to-be-production system within the emulated cutover window. The BMC Helix Operations team participates in the cutover process.

As part of this process, the database image is copied to the QA system to ensure that all systems are completely aligned at the point of go-live, which will facilitate hyper-care support.

The BMC go-live assessment should also be performed during the emulated and production cutover.

After the cutover is complete, BMC will remove AR System administrator permission from any user accounts that no longer need this access level.

BMC go-live assessment

Helix Operations performs the BMC go-live assessment to validate that the system is ready for production usage. This is also known as the BMC or RoD Audit.

This activity includes the following types of tasks:

  • Performance Tuning—OS, database, and BMC Helix ITSM
  • Validation of configuration settings and hotfix status
  • Verification of configuration file settings
  • Failover testing

Immediately before go-live, perform the go-live assessment with the database image that the customer will use. Under these constraints, this activity can be performed only during the production cutover. Typically, this activity takes 4 hours, but you can reduce this time if the outage window is constrained, by performing some activities outside of the final cutover.

We recommend that you include this activity in the emulated cutovers so that the duration and outcome is known prior to the final production cutover.
