Enriching data
You can populate fields in the target system by looking up data from AR System forms on the source or targets systems or from a spreadsheet. You can transform data in a variety of ways including applying business transformation, such as Product Catalog remapping.
BMC Helix Data Manager supports three types of data enrichment:
- Source Form—Look up data from the source system when performing an export. Source form data enrichments support complex multilevel joins and enable a wide range of transformation capability.
- Target Form—Look up data from the target system when performing an import. Target form data enrichments may look up on one form only.
- Mapping—Look up data from a spreadsheet that BMC Helix Data Manager automatically mount by as a temporary table during the import process.
The Data Enrichment tab on the Data Mapping page shows a list of all data enrichments associated with the migration pack. Any data enrichments linked to the current form mapping will be displayed at the top of this list. The example illustrated below shows a data enrichment linked to the AP:Alternate form.
The control buttons are displayed on the right side of the data enrichment list, find these buttons illustrated on the left and the function performed by each.

The following sub-tabs are displayed under the Data Enrichment tab:
- Info—Basic details including name, type, and any forms from which data is extracted.
- Link—Definition of the link between the selected form mapping and the data enrichment, including the qualification and database operation.
- Linked To—Shows a list of all forms to which the data enrichment is linked.
- Mapped To—Shows a list of all fields that the data enrichment will populate.
- Mapping Data—Available for mapping data enrichments and shows the uploaded CSV data.
