Managing users
The BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench enforces access permissions to the Workbench and functionality within the Workbench. To access the Workbench, users must be registered by a user with appropriate administration permissions. Users may only access the functionality they have permission to access as determined by their roles. Users can perform migrations only for AR System systems to which they have been given access. Using permissions prevents unauthorized access to systems or functionality for Workbench users.
You can create and manage users manually or automatically (when registering your systems). You can assign each user to one or more roles.
Roles and permissions
BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench supports the following roles, which can be assigned to individual user accounts.
Role | Permission |
---|---|
cmt_user |
A user with the cmt_user role may not make changes to data, perform data migrations or create migration packs. |
cmt_migration_pack_creator |
|
cmt_migration_user |
The user is restricted to the systems to which they have been granted access. |
cmt_data_extract |
|
cmt_system_registrar |
|
cmt_user_admin |
|
cmt_super_user | By default, a super user account is created when BMC Helix Data Manager is installed with the user name hdm and the same password. Make sure to change this password after installation.
|
In addition to this functional role-level access, BMC Helix Data Manager Workbench enforces BMC Helix ITSM level permissions. Users can perform actions against BMC Helix ITSM systems to which they have been given explicit access.
This does not prevent a user with access to target system A from running an import job where the data came from source B (to which they do not have access), nor does this prevent a user with access to B exporting data that is destined for A (to which they do not have access).
