Adding notifications to the approval process

You can use the approval server to send notifications and escalations that alert requesters and approvers when action is required on an approval request. In addition to using email as a notification method, notifications can be sent by workflow. This is referred to as "workflow-based notifications."

For example, you can add notifications to alert requesters and approvers in the following situations:

  • When a request is waiting for an approver response, including escalations for requests that have been pending for a specified time
  • When an approver responds with an approval or rejection
  • When a More Information request is pending
  • When an error occurs
  • When an approver puts a request on hold
  • When the normal approval cycle has been overridden by an approver or the Process Administrator
