Creating alert messages and actions

An Alert is a built-in view component available in the View designer. Use alerts to provide timely notifications and updates to users and prompt them to take necessary actions. You can configure alerts with properties like type,variant,dismissible, and action label to suit different scenarios,

To add an alert component and action to a view definition

Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio and navigate to the Workspace tab.
Select the application for which you want to add an alert.
On the Views tab, click the name of the view definition to which you want to add an alert.
In View designer, drag the Alert component from the Basic components section of the Palette pane onto the canvas.
In the Component Properties pane, enter the following properties for the alert component:

Property	Description	Example
General
Name	Enter a name for the alert component.
Title	Enter a title that the alert will display.
Message	Enter the message to be displayed.
Type	You can choose from the following options: Inline— Use this to communicate information specific to a control or widget. Example: To inform users about invalid input for a specific field. Section—Use this to communicate information for a specific section. Example: To display an alert for a specific table or tab pane.
Variant	Select the severity of the alert. You can choose from the following options: Primary Success Info Warning Danger
Dismissible	Use the toggle key to enable the close button on the alert and allow users to dismiss the alert if needed.
Hidden	Use the toggle key to hide the Alert component at runtime, and then select one of the following options: At all times—Select this option to keep the component hidden at all times. When condition is true—Select this option to keep the component hidden only if a certain condition is met. Condition—Build an expression to define a condition. This option is displayed only after you select the When condition is true option. For more information, see Expression Editor.
Available on devices	Select the interface on which the alert should be visible. You can select from the following options: Desktop Mobile Tablet By default, all the three options are selected.
CSS classes	Enter CSS class names to apply them to the view component and style it if needed. For more information, see CSS classes used in View designer components.
Actions
Action label	Enter a name that is displayed to users, allowing them to click and perform the specified action.
Hidden	Turn on the toggle key to hide Actions at runtime, and then select one of the following options: At all times—Select this option to keep it hidden at all times. When condition is true—Select this option to keep it hidden only when a certain condition is met. Condition—Build an expression to define a condition. This option is displayed only after you select the When condition is true option. For more information, see Expression Editor.
Actions	Select the action to be taken on the alert. For more information, see To configure an action on an action button and follow from step 6.

Result

Scenario 1

Seth, a developer at Apex Global, wants to create a Section type Dismissible alert with a Warning variant to notify end users about unsaved changes. Seth wants to prompt the end user to take action and click on Save to save changes.

The alert will appear as follows after the configuration:

Scenario 2

Seth, a developer at Apex Global, wants to create an Inline type alert with a Success variant to notify end users that the changes were saved.
