Designating alternate approvers for yourself or other approvers
To designate alternate approvers
- Open Approval Central by using one of the methods described in Approval-Central.
- In the Actions section, click My Alternate Approvers.
The AP:Alternate form opens in New mode. - In the Alternate field, enter the AR System login name of the person to designate as your alternate.
- Use the Start Date and End Date fields to specify the time frame in which you want the alternate to act on your behalf.
- In the Covering field, select one of the following options:
- All—To authorize the alternate to approve all processes for which you have signature authority.
- Specific—To authorize the alternate to approve a specific process. Then, select a process from the Process list.
- In the Notify Alternate field, select Yes to send notifications to the alternate for each new approval, or No to prevent notifications to the alternate.
Click Save.
A time lapse of up to 60 minutes past the defined End Date might occur before an alternate loses the alternate privileges. For performance reasons, this interval is set to 60 minutes in Approval Server.
To define alternates for other approvers
Process administrators can designate alternates for other approvers within any process for which the process administrator has Full Admin authority.
- Open the AP:Alternate form in New mode.
- Create an alternate as described in the previous procedure.
- In the For field, replace your user name with the AR System user name of the person this alternate will be substituting for.
- Click Save.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
