Using the localization toolkit to localize your applications
BMC provides a localization toolkit to help you easily localize your AR System applications from English to other locales.
The localization toolkit simplifies the process, and it affects the application's:
- Forms
- Associated views
- Fields
- Message catalog entries
- Configuration data
You can use a graphical or command-line interface.
The process for using the localization toolkit is as follows:
Step | Description | Instructions |

1. | Prepare your application to be localized. | |
2. | Install the localization toolkit. | |
3. | Set a root folder to store your localization dictionary and definition packages. | |
4. | Create a localization package. | |
5. | Extract the strings for localization. | |
6. | Export the strings to an XLIFF file. | |
7. | Translate the strings in the XLIFF file. | |
8. | Import the translated strings. | |
9. | Create or update content. | |
10. | Review the forms, views, and fields that were localized to make sure the | |
11. | Adjust view layouts as needed. |
The localization toolkit supports only Unicode AR System servers.
You can use the pre-installed SQLite database for testing purposes, but use an AR System server for production purposes. For more information, see Setting-a-root-folder.
