Localizing AR System applications manually

You can localize any AR System component that a user interacts with, including:

  • User interface
  • Error messages
  • Workflow messages
  • Banners
  • Container labels and descriptions
  • Help text
  • Layout
  • Icons
  • Reports
  • Number and date formats

Localization allows users to move seamlessly between locale-specific views by simply changing their locale option and logging in.

To provide a complete localized experience for users, you must create localized views and applications and then apply the appropriate locale settings. The process is as follows:

  1. Install languages. (See Installing-languages.)
  2. Create a localized view of a form. (See Localizing-form-views.)
  3. Localize the user interface of a form view. (See Localizing-form-views.)
  4. Localize menus. (See Localizing-menus.)
  5. Localize reports. (See Localizing-reports.)
  6. Localize messages, including system error messages. (See Localizing-form-views.)
  7. Localize currency codes. (See Localizing-currency-codes.)
  8. Set the Localize Server option in the BMC Remedy System Administration Console. (See Localizing-the-server.)
  9. Localize Mid Tier. (See Localizing-the-mid-tier.)
  10. Verify localized views and adjust the views, as appropriate. (See Adjusting-view-size.)
  11. Set user preferences. (See Setting-user-preferences-for-localized-views.)

You can use the localization toolkit to complete steps 2, 3, and 4. See Creating-and-managing-fields.
