Changing the Request ID field length or prefix


You can change the prefix or length of the Request ID field. The existing Request ID field values are preserved. To change the values to the new format, see Changing-Request-ID-field-values-to-a-new-format.

To change the length of the Request ID field

  1. Log in to Developer Studio as a user with administrator access.
  2. Open the form that you want to alter.
  3. Select the Request ID field.
  4. Set the Input Length property to the desired length in the Input Length field.
    • The length must be 1 or between 5 and 15 characters, inclusive.
    • If set to 1, the leading 0s are stripped from the value of the Request ID field.
    • If you specify a prefix for the Request ID field, the field must be at least 5 characters more than the prefix.
  5. Save the changes to the form.

To change the prefix of the Request ID field

  1. Log in to Developer Studio as a user with administrator access.
  2. Open the form that you want to alter.
  3. Select the Request ID field.
  4. Set the Default Value property to the desired prefix.
    • The length must be 1 or between 5 and 15 characters, inclusive.
    • If set to 1, the leading 0s are stripped from the value of the Request ID field.
    • If you specify a prefix for the Request ID field, the field must be at least 5 characters more than the prefix.
  5. Save the changes to the form.
