Creating database connections with the AR Connection module

You can create AR System database connections for transformations in the Spoon client using the AR Connection module. Once a AR System database connection is defined, it is available to all ARInput and AROutput steps in a transformation.

  1. From the Transformations folder, specify the server connection details.
  2. Select Database connections > New.
The Database Connection dialog box opens.
  3. Select General > AR System, fill in the remaining settings.
  4. Click OK to establish the connection.

Support for Client Managed Transactions

The Atrium Integrator adapter uses the AR System Client Managed Transaction feature to open a database connection instance and share that connection with all transformation steps. Transformations using ARInput, AROutput, and CMDB sources use this feature because the sources operate on objects with relationships and make modifications on multiple forms and/or tables based on data in other tables (as well as results from previous steps). For example, the adapter might receive data from an LDAP server and place it in User forms. If a problem occurs, rolling back changes is easy when the transformation runs in a single database connection.

To enable this feature, select the Make the transformation database transactional check box in the Transformation properties dialog box.
