Updating configuration settings by using the AR System Configuration Generic UI form
Use the AR System Configuration Generic UI form from the Remedy AR System Administration Console to add or modify configuration settings for centralized components. Use this form if you want to define a local-level value for a setting that has GLOBAL_ONLY scope or you want to define a global-level value for a setting that has LOCAL_ONLY scope.
You can continue to change the configuration settings for the following components by using the listed form or tool:
- AR System server—AR System Administration: Server Information form
- Approval Server—Form-to-change-server-settings-for-approval-server
- Mid Tier—Mid Tier Configuration Tool
You can use the AR System Administration:Plugin Server Information form form to change the configuration settings for Java plug-in server.
You can use the AR System Configuration Generic UI form form for Email Engine configuration settings and any other configuration settings that are not available in the preceding forms.
To add a new configuration setting
- In a browser, open the Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
- In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the component to which you want to add a setting.
- Click Add.
- Enter the name of the setting that you want to add and its value.

- Click Close.
To modify an existing configuration setting
- In a browser, open the Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
- In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the appropriate component.
- From the settings table, select the setting that you want to modify.
- Make the required change, and click Apply.
- Click Close.
To update global-level and local-level configuration value
- Select System > General > Centralize Configuration > AR System Configuration Generic UI.
- From the Component Name list, select the component for which you want to view the settings.
- Select * to update the global-level settings.
- Select a Component name to update the local-level settings ( for example, server 1).
To disable an existing configuration setting
- In a browser, open the Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
- In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the appropriate component.
- From the settings table, select the setting that you want to disable.
- Prefix the setting value with a hash symbol (#) to comment it out, and click Apply.
- Click Close.
To delete an existing configuration setting
- In a browser, open the Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
- In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the appropriate component.
- From the settings table, select the setting that you want to delete, and click Delete.
- Click Apply and Close.
