BMC Helix solution stack deployment details

All the hardware are virtualized. The details of the deployed instance are as follows:

BMC Helix Platform (AR System server)

BMC Helix Platform (Action Request System) server is built using the Java technology platform. This means each platform server is hosted on a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The JVM needs to be tuned specifically to the behavior of the platform server for best performance.

For this benchmark, there are six platform  pods, with two user facing platform server, two pods of platform with Admin and FTS role, and other two pods for Smart reporting application. The platform servers are configured in a server group environment.

BMC Helix Mid Tier , Smart IT, DWP and Remedy Single Sign-On (RSSO)

The clustered applications of Mid Tier, Smart IT and DWP consists of two pod replicas each depending on the workload. Each replicas hosts a tomcat instance. The tomcat instances are configured as a cluster for high availability.

Warning

Note

  • Only web applications deployed with the <distributable/> attribute have session replication in a tomcat cluster.
  • RSSO does not need session replication because all the deployed instances share the same database where the sessions are stored.

BMC Helix Smart Reporting

The Smart Reporting server has two replicas of pod.

PostgreSQL server 12.7 database server

PostgreSQL 12.7 database server hosts the Platform databases, RSSO database, and Smart Reporting database. The lab server machine has 20 cores and 32 GB RAM.
