Enabling BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management for Smart IT


This topic describes how an administrator can enable BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management for Smart IT. BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management is an add-on offering for Remedy IT Service Management that provides:

  • Collaborated and automated incident brokering to address some of the service management challenges faced when using services from multiple cloud providers.
  • DevOps integration features to enable DevOps teams to integrate their agile development tools for better collaboration.

To enable BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management for Smart IT on premise

To use Smart IT with BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management, you must enable the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider. As a Smart IT administrator, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to Remedy with Smart IT as an administrator.
  2. Click Configuration and select Admin Console Configuration.
  3. Click SmartIThamburgerMenu.PNGand select Configuration.
  4. In the Providers table, select the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider check box.
  5. Click Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider to update the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management provider settings:

    Field

    Description

    mcsm:password

    Enter the BMC Helix Platform tenant admin password.

    mcsm.host

    Enter the BMC Helix Platform host name provided to you by BMC.

    mcsm.protocol

    Enter https.

    mcsm.username

    Enter the BMC Helix Platform administrator user name.

    mcsm.port

    Enter 443. Note: For the https protocol, if 443 does not work, enter -1.

    Important

    Enter the user name and the password of your tenant administrator account.
    If you are a Remedy OnDemand user and if you have changed your password, you need only update the password field.

  6. Click Update Settings and the click Reload Providers.

To update the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management password

If you change the password for BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management, you must also change the password in Smart IT.  As a Smart IT administrator, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to Remedy with Smart IT as an administrator.
  2. Click Configuration and select Admin Console Configuration.
  3. Click SmartIThamburgerMenu.PNGand select Configuration.
  4. In the Providers table, update the password for the Multi-Cloud Management pluggable provider.
  5. Click Update Settings and the click Reload Providers.
