Creating database links

The system uses a database link to connect to the BMC IT Business Management Suite database as a Connected User. When the BMC Remedy AR System database user initiates any BMC Remedy AR System query or transaction to the BMC IT Business Management Suite remote database, this query or transaction connects to this database as a BMC Remedy AR System database user that is a Connected User.

To create a database link

On the BMC Remedy AR System database servers, run SQL scripts to add the database link. For this, on the BMC Remedy AR System server, run the cr_db_link_ora.bat script. The script can be found under Shared Components\sql\hybrid\oracle folder of the BMC IT Business Management installation directory.

On Windows, the default directory structure is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMCITBusinessManagement\Shared_Components\sql\hybrid\oracle.

The syntax is as follows:

cr_db_link_ora.bat <AR DB Oracle Service Name or SID><AR DB System User Name><AR DB System User Password><ITBM DB Oracle Service name or SID>
