Performance Benchmarking of BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker

The BMC Performance team carried out an internal benchmark to test the performance of BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker application version 20.08. This benchmark test was conducted using 3 tenants and a total of 1000 concurrent users. Test workload was based on realistic user interactions in an enterprise customer deployment. BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker provides out-of-the-box flows that provide integration between BMC Helix ITSM and AWS Support, Salesforce Service Cloud, Atlassian Jira Software, Rally Software (formerly, CA Agile Central), and Azure DevOps.

For the Performance testing, the following integrations were considered:

  1. Incident Brokering with Salesforce Service Cloud
  2. Dev-Ops Integration with JIRA Instance
  3. Ticket Consolidation with Remedy as Vendor Instance.

BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker which uses BMC Helix Integration Service version 20.08 was hosted in a dedicated environment managed by Kubernetes. Though there are many connectors available in BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker , only the following connectors were used during Performance testing.

  • ITSM Connector
  • JIRA Connector
  • MultiCloud Connector
  • Service Cloud Connector

Benchmarking provides the following :

  • Establishes a performance baseline with metrics such as use case response times, CPU/memory usage, records processed in a BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker flow.
  • Evaluates the capacity of the system for current or future workload.
  • Identifies performance issues and tuning recommendations.

Performance test results demonstrated that BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker was easily able to sustain a load of 1000 concurrent users and provided consistent response times for user actions while expending a low-to-moderate percentage of available CPU resources. It was also able to scale and perform to meet records processing targets. These test results also help to plan for future growth and capacity needs.
