Viewing failed transaction records for BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit integrations

When a BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit based integration fails, a corresponding failed transaction record is created. This record is created in the flow transaction record definition in Ticket Brokering Library in BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker. As an administrator, view a failed transaction record to get insights into the errors that occurred in an integration and rectify them by performing the necessary actions.

Additionally, BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker supports the automatic retry of failed transaction records to fix errors in the following integrations where tickets are brokered from BMC Helix ITSM to Jira:

  • BMC Helix ITSM incidents and Jira integration
  • BMC Helix ITSM change requests and Jira integration
  • BMC Helix ITSM work orders and Jira integration

How does the automatic retry functionality work

When an integration fails, a failed transaction record is created in the flow transaction record. By default, the status of the failed transaction record is Retry. A scheduler fetches failed records from Flow Transaction every 1 hour and adds a new retry record in the Retry Error record. You can change the default frequency of the scheduler in the relevant integration template. The system retries a failed transaction record up to 5 times.

Depending on whether the retry is successful or not, the following events occur:

If the retry fails

If the retry is successful

The status of the failed transaction record is set to Failed.

The status of the failed transaction is set to Fixed.

The status of the retry record is set to Failed.

NA

The Error Text field is updated.

NA

Important

The retry count in Flow Transaction is increased by 1 irrespective of whether the retry is a failure or success.
