Managing assets from the procurement request through fulfillment
This use case describes procurement requests that are initiated and managed through fulfillment in the Mid Tier interface.
Scenario
Calbro has defined a standard configuration for sales representatives. A new sales representative will join the company in the next month. So, a laptop along with the required software applications should be available on the sales representative's first day.
Benefit
No time is wasted in deciding what kind of a device is required for the newly joined sales representative.
Workflow
The following table describes the typical steps involved in lifecycle of an Asset:
Console | User | Action | Reference |
---|---|---|---|
Asset Management console | Configuration administrator | Define standard configurations for the issued equipment. | |
Contract Management console | Contract manager |
| |
Service Request Designer | Service Catalog Manager | Access self service through the BMC Service Request Management interface and request a Standard Sales Laptop Configuration pack and a copy of Microsoft Project. | |
Purchasing console | Configuration administrator | Create the purchase request and reserve a copy of Microsoft Project from the pool of available licenses. | |
Purchasing console | Configuration administrator | Review the purchase request and create a purchase order for the laptop and accessories. | |
Receiving console | Configuration administrator | On receipt of the purchase, log into the Receiving Console and mark the items as received. BMC Helix ITSM: Asset Management automatically generates a new CI for the laptop request. | |
Change Management console | Configuration administrator | Create a change request for the build and handover of the laptop and the installation of Microsoft Project, which is completed after the user's laptop is installed. |
Result
When the sales representative joins the company, the sales representative receives a preconfigured device.
