Before you begin
Your administrator must provide you with AR System administrator permissions as described in Configuring-the-URL-to-access-CMDB-Portal-through-Mid-Tier for you to access the CMDB Portal.

Overview of CMDB Portal
The following animation shows the various components of an example CMDB Portal user interface:
CMDB Portalis designed to help you get a quick update on the state of the database while also giving fast access to most of the core functionalities required to manage your database. The following videos take you on a quick tour and familiarize you with CMDB Portal and some key CMDB components:
To access CMDB Portal from Mid Tier
- Log in to Mid Tier with your credentials.
- In the Applications pane, click Atrium Core and then click Configuration Manager Dashboard .
The login screen for CMDB Portal is displayed if you are not using BMC Helix Single Sign-On .
3. Enter your CMDB credentials and sign in.
To access CMDB Portal by using a URL
- Enter the URL provided by your administrator in your browser.
Your administrator would have configured a URL of the following type:
http://<aRServer>:<jettyPort>/cmdb/index.html or https://<ARServer>:<jettyPort>/cmdb/index.html, where the Jetty port is typically 8008. - Log in with your credentials.
Atrium Integrator interface
Use Atrium Integrator to create data stores, create jobs for importing data, and monitor jobs from the Data Imports page, as shown in the following figure:

Atrium Integrator Spoon interface

Accessing CMDB Portal with limited functionality
When the platform-fts-0 pod that handles all administrative requests is down, CMDB Portal is available in read-only mode. You can still access CMDB Portal to view the following functionalities:
- Dashboard
- List of jobs in Atrium Integrator, Normalization, and Reconciliation job consoles
However, you cannot perform the following functions:
- Create or modify instances in CMDB such as CIs, classes, and attributes.
- Create or run Atrium Integrator, normalization, and reconciliation jobs.
The functionality is restored to normal after the platform-fts-0 pod is available again.
BMC Helix CMDB components
Make sure that you have the following permissions to access the required components in CMDB.

You can access these components from CMDB Portal > Atrium Core.
From the list of components, select the component that you want to access, as shown in the following image:

View the distribution of CIs across datasets, classes, and types, and view the CMDB data quality metrics in the Configuration Management dashboards in BMC Helix Dashboards.
