Load the CMDB with information in your IT environment. Loading the CMDB involves importing data that is obtained from different sources and processing it where required so that ITIL processes can refer to this reliable data.

Configuration Manager

Keep your CMDB as up to date as possible, you must make sure that all changes to the IT environment are captured. To achieve this, you can transfer data from external data stores to BMC Helix CMDB using Atrium Integrator. To Changes to the IT environment are captured and sourced to the CMDB using various discovery tools.

Extend the data model to add more attributes that capture additional data specific to your business needs.
The common data model that is provided with BMC Helix CMDB covers all the scenarios of various classes and relationships within which CIs may be categorized. Simulate a proposed change to a configuration item and then analyze the simulated impact of that change on a business service.

Track changes to CIs and their relationships by using auditing. Auditing enables you to detect changes in your environment and thereby avoid or address service interruptions. You can configure auditing in the Class Manager.
