Federated data plug-ins
Plug-ins use adapters to connect an external source of data to BMC CMDB. If you want to federate data on a Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)-compliant database, a CMDBf-compliant CMDB, or the forms residing on a Remedy Action Request System server, you can create a plug-in by using an adapter that is installed with BMC CMDB.
The following figure illustrates how plug-ins and adapters work with two federated Oracle databases. You can use a single adapter for multiple plug-ins. For example, you might use a JDBC adapter to configure two different plug-ins, with each plug-in configured to connect with a different external database.
