Configuring inline normalization


Use the following procedure to select inline normalization, which does not require creating a normalization job. Normalization for the selected dataset starts when instances are created or modified.

Configuring inline normalization as the default setting for all datasets

The following figure shows Core Configuration parameters for Normalization Engine.

To configure inline normalization as the default setting for all datasets

Perform the following steps to configure inline normalization for all datasets:

  1. On the CMDB UI, select Configurations > Core Configurations.
  2. On the left, select Normalization. The core configuration parameters for Normalization Engine are displayed.
  3. Expand the Default Dataset Normalization tab and select the Inline Normalization check box. 
  4. Select Apply default settings to all Datasets check box. 
  5. Click Save to save the configuration settings.

To configure inline normalization for a selected dataset

Perform the following steps to configure inline normalization for a selected dataset:

  1. On the CMDB UI, select Configurations > Manage Normalization Rules > Dataset Configurations .
  2. Select the dataset for which you want to set Inline Normalization and click the Edit icon.
  3. On the dataset configuration page, select the Configuration Mode as Inline.
  4. Click Save to save the configuration for the selected dataset.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
