Configuring Onboarding Portal and exporting New Hire Portal

The next step to start implementing the onboarding solution is configuring the Onboarding Portal in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced by assigning a URL for the Onboarding Portal and making it visible in the navigation bar.

The out-of-the-box studio page for the New Hire Portal is available in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced for an administrator. You must export this page from BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced, and import it to the external portal as an external administrator.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that to-dos are configured. Learn how to enable to-dos in Enabling end user features.
  • For the New Hire Portal, make sure that the external portal is provisioned.

To configure the Onboarding Portal

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced as an administrator.
  2. Click Configuration > BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  3. In the Create Custom Page section, click Add Page.
  4. Specify the following URL in URL to BMC Helix Innovation Studio:
    <IS-host-name>/helix/index.html#/com.bmc.dsm.bwfa/view/com.bmc.dsm.hrsm-lib:Onboarding%20Request%20-%20Console
    Example: https://apexglobal-is.demo.com/helix/index.html#/com.bmc.dsm.bwfa/view/com.bmc.dsm.hrsm-lib:Onboarding%20Request%20-%20Console

  5. Select New tab for Open in.
  6. Select the Use view entitlement rules check box.
    The entitlement that you defined for the Onboarding Manager in Configuring-entitlements will be applied to the Onboarding Portal. Users with the Onboarding Manager functional role only can view the Onboarding Portal. 
  7. Specify a name for the new page, such as Onboarding Portal, and click Save.
  8. Click Navigation Manager in the left navigation.
  9. In the Application Content left navigation, under the External Application Pages section, select Onboarding Portal.
  10. In the Navigation Builder, drag and drop Onboarding Portal to change its sequence as a tab on the menu bar.
  11. Click Save. 

To export the New Hire Portal

  1. As an administrator in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced, click Configuration > Studio.
  2. On the Customize your workspaces page, select New Hire Portal.
  3. Click Actions > Export.

    The exported page is saved to your local drive.
