Enabling PDF export for case details


As a case business analyst, you can enable PDF export for case details so that case agents can access case information in a customizable, printable format.

Use the default out-of-the-box global template, Global - PDF Template for Case, for the PDF export across all lines of business. To include specific case fields in the PDF, you can make a copy of this template and customize it according to your requirements. 

To enable PDF export for case details

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Business Workflows and click Settings Settings icon.png
  2. Expand Line of Business and click Manage Line of Business.
  3. From the Line of Business list, select the line of business for which you want to define the configuration.
    If you have access to a single line of business, the line of business is selected by default.
  4. On the Application Configurations tab, select EXPORT_CASE_TO_PDF.
  5. On the Edit Configuration page, enable EXPORT_CASE_TO_PDF by selecting 2102_ToggleIcon.jpg.
  6. Click Save.

To customize the template for PDF export

  1.  Log in to BMC Helix Business Workflows and click Settings Settings icon.png.
  2. Expand Case Management and click PDF Templates.
  3. From the Line of Business list, select the line of business for which you want to use the customized template.
    If you have access to a single line of business, the line of business is selected by default.
  4. Select the out-of-the-box Global - PDF Template for Case template.
  5. Click Copy Template to create a copy of an out-of-the-box global template for your company.
    Important: You can create only one copy per company for a specific line of business.
  6. Select Company and add Template Name to create a copy of the global template.
  7. Select the copied template, on the Edit Export PDF Template page, enter the following details:

    StatusSelect one of the following statuses:
    • Active: The template is available for use. 
      Only active templates are available for use.
    • Inactive: The template is not available for use.
    LabelSelect a label for the template.
    You can filter the templates based on a specific label.
    DescriptionAdd a description for the template.
    LocaleSelect a language for the template.
    The default language is English.
    Important: You must create separate templates for different languages, so
    that you can use a template based on a locale.
    Document Body

    Consider the following points to configure the document body:

    • Use the formatting options that are provided to define the structure and content of the PDF document.
    • Format the text by using the standard text and paragraph formatting options. 
    • Insert images and tables wherever required.
    • Click Edit Expression doc temp_expression builder icon.png icon to add fields such as case fields, case association fields, dynamic fields, and other additional fields that are available for the template.
      The field values are updated based on the case for which the PDF export is enabled. 
    • Click 200801_HeaderFooterIcon.jpg to add a header and a footer to the document. You can add links, images, and text to the header and footer that are displayed on each page of the PDF document. 
    • When you add a header and a footer for the PDF template, click HTML content to define page margins for the document.
    Localized Document bodyClick +Localized Document Body to create localized content for the PDF document.

    8. Click Save.
