Configuring automatic servlet refresh

The Refresh Servlets feature enables you to make changes in the Self Service Configuration tool and apply those changes without restarting Apache Tomcat. By default, the Refresh Servlets feature is not configured. To enable this feature, you must register each servlet by creating an entry at the bottom of the Self Service Portal Configuration pane.

To configure the Refresh Servlets feature

  1. From the IT Home Page, select Live Chat > Administration Console.
  2. Select Self Service Portal > Configuration.
  3. Select the Application Portal - Interface entry from the list.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, in the Registered Servlets section, click Add.
  5. In the Self Service Servlet Registration panel, enter the following information:
    • Servlet: Type a descriptive name for the servlet (for example, Local Servlet).
    • Status: Select Enabled.
    • Action: Select None.
    • Refresh URL: Specify the URL to refresh. Be sure to include the /eschat/configrefresh? setting at the end of the URL. For example:
      http://12.345.6.78:8080/eschat/configrefresh?
    • Refresh Response: Leave this field blank.

      Note

The Refresh Response and Action fields are used by the workflow to trigger the refresh and report back the status.

  6. Click Save.

    Tip

To refresh changes without restarting Apache Tomcat, click the Refresh Servlet button on the Self Service Portal Configuration pane. The new refresh time appears in the table.
