How to use Insight Finder to create dashboards

Today, IT organizations manage an increasing amount of data. Turning this data into actionable insights is often time-consuming and technically challenging. People in roles such as service managers, operations managers, or analysts need to visualize and analyze this data.

Insight Finder is an AI-powered agent that generates visualizations based on natural language inputs. You can provide your requirements to the agent in natural language prompts. The agent converts these requirements into visualizations to analyze data and draw insights. It simplifies dashboard creation and helps you achieve the following goals:

Make faster decisions from real-time insights
Save time to create dashboards
Reduce bias in data visualization

To use Insight Finder, make sure that the required product licenses are available. For more information about licensing, see BMC Helix Service Management service.

Scenario

Scenario: Create a custom dashboard
Jordan is a new administrator at Apex Global. He wants to quickly build a custom dashboard to visualize and analyze BMC Helix ITSM incidents. He is not well-versed in SQL. He opens Insight Finder and adds relevant prompts according to his requirements. For example, to visualize incidents, he adds this prompt:

Give me the count of critical incidents in the last 30 days using bar charts.

Insight Finder creates these bar charts and displays them in a panel. Jordan can specify other requirements in a separate prompt. Insight Finder creates the specified visualizations in another panel. Jordan previews these panels. He can save this custom dashboard that consists of these panels.

User roles and permissions

Make sure that the following minimum roles are assigned:
