Important

While every effort is made to provide accurate, forward-looking guidance on product direction to assist you with your buying and planning decisions, BMC cannot guarantee that intentions stated as follows are final and binding.

Background

The Telemetry version 20.08.x stores data in the Cassandra database where the data is retained for several years.

Statement of direction

BMC plans the end of life of Telemetry version 20.08.x. BMC provides support for the Telemetry version 22.1.x, which is based on BMC Helix Common Services and stores data in the Victoria Metrics database. The data is stored only for 3 months.

Transition to Telemetry version 22.1.x

With the Telemetry version 22.1.x, customers cannot view data for more than 3 months in the Cognitive consumption UI in BMC Helix Innovation Studio. After upgrading the Telemetry version from 20.08.x to 22.1.x, reports based on raw data, and the cognitive consumption report will display only new data. However, other BMC Helix Dashboards are based on aggregate data and are not impacted. These dashboards will show the old data.

We recommend that customers take a screenshot of the cognitive consumption report for future reference.

Important

The migration of raw data from Telemetry 20.08.x Cassandra to Telemetry 22.1.x Victoria Metrics is not supported. If there are custom reports based on raw data, the 3-month retention rule is applied.
