BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround can be used as a knowledge provider in the following BMC applications: 

  • BMC Helix Virtual Agent
  • BMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced
  • BMC Helix ITSM
  • BMC Helix Business Workflows

Important

BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround is a SaaS solution, and you can use it as a knowledge provider in SaaS versions of the BMC applications only. Also, you cannot use BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround as a knowledge provider for Mid Tier.

Scenario: Using with BMC Helix ITSM

Apex Global uses BMC Helix ITSM for handling user requests, incidents, and infrastructure-generated issues. The administrator wants to make sure that service desk agents can easily access solutions by referring to the knowledge base. To achieve this goal, the company has decided to implement BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround as the knowledge provider for BMC Helix ITSM. During this process, Apex Global transfers its existing knowledge articles from BMC Helix ITSM: Knowledge Management to BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround, ensuring that all historical knowledge is retained. After BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround is configured and activated as the knowledge provider, service desk agents can efficiently locate, create, update, and manage knowledge articles to resolve incidents quickly and accurately.

 

Workflow for configuring BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround as a knowledge provider

After subscribing to BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround, administrators configure it as the knowledge provider for a BMC application. A BMC Helix Innovation Studio administrator completes common configuration tasks in BMC Helix Innovation Studio. Then, depending on a specific BMC application, application administrators must enable BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround in the BMC application or request BMC Helix, Inc. Support to enable it.

Important: If you don't use custom templates, you do not need to do the mapping because out-of-the-box knowledge templates and fields in your BMC application are automatically mapped to BMC Helix Knowledge Management by ComAround. However, if necessary, you can edit these out-of-the-box mappings too.
