Enabling users to reassign approvals


As an  Action Request System (AR System) administrator, you can enable the reassigning of approvals so that end users can reassign their request to other approvers. The reassigning approvals feature helps establish an efficient work environment where tasks are wisely distributed and completed on time by respective personnel.


Types of approvals that can be reassigned

Reassigning approvals is supported for all types of BMC Helix Digital Workplace requests, except delegated approvals. Requests automatically delegated to alternate approvers cannot be reassigned to other approvers.

If you have aDWP Advanced icon.pngBMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced license, the reassigning approvals feature is supported for all types of BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog requests, except the following requests:

  • Requests that are automatically delegated to alternate approvers.
  • Approval requests from BMC Helix Business Workflows.
  • Approval requests for bundled services.
    End users can reassign services one by one in a bundle. They cannot reassign all services in a bundle to a single approver at one time.
  • Approval requests for services added to the cart.
    Users can reassign services one by one in the cart. They cannot reassign all services in the cart to a single approver at one time.


Before you begin

Enable one or more of the available approval types in BMC Helix Digital Workplace. For information about how to do this, see Enabling-approvals.


To enable end users to reassign approval requests

  1. Log in to AR System as an administrator.
  2. Select Quick links > Approval Administration Console.
  3. On the Process tab, select a process definition.
  4. On the Process Definition form, select Yes from the Can Reassign? list of the corresponding process.
  5. Click Save.
