Managing your favorite catalog items

As an end user, add frequently used catalog items, such as services and knowledge articles, to your favorite list. Add essential service health items to your favorites to easily monitor the health status of popular services running in your organization. Adding catalog items to favorites helps you access them without having to search for them each time. Your favorite list is also helpful for planning future requests and bookmarking items for later consideration.

Adding catalog items to your favorites

Scenario

Britney works with the Apex Global's marketing team. She usually requests services for marketing assets or booking conference rooms for marketing workshops. She adds these frequent services to her favorite list to quickly access them as and when needed.

Britney plans to place a work order for promotional material for the upcoming event next week. She plans to bookmark the relevant service for her reference. She searches for it and adds the Branding Material Request service to her favorite list.

Britney often refers to the knowledge article named Best Practices for maintaining the brand. She adds this article to her favorites.

Before you begin

Make sure that the administrator has configured the Your Favorites section.

Important

The favorites section is hidden when you switch the catalog view to request services for another user. For more information, see Submitting-service-requests-for-other-users.

To add catalog items to the favorite section

Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
Perform either of the following steps:
- From Catalog, open the service that you want to mark as a favorite.
- Search for the knowledge articles that you refer to frequently. Open the relevant knowledge article from the search results that you want to mark as a favorite.
Click Favorite.
To remove catalog items from the favorite list, select the item from the favorite section and click Unfavorite.

To add service health items to the favorite section

Log in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
From My Stuff, select the service health item that you want to mark as a favorite.
Click Favorite.

Important

To receive notifications about changes to available service health items, the end user can add the service to favorites and enable the desired notification type. For more information, see Setting-up-service-health-items and Setting-up-end-user-preferences.

Results

After navigating to the Catalog page, the Your Favorites section displays the items that you marked as favorites.

On the My Stuff page, select Favorites from the filter to view all of your favorite service health items.
