Catalog services and fulfillments


A Catalog is a centralized repository of services and products from multiple business units including IT, HR, and Facilities. Typically, a Catalog consists of the following components:

  • Service request definitions
  • Workflows that determine the business process of requested service
  • Entitlements that determine which set of end users can request a particular service
  • Questionnaires to gather more information from requesters before they submit a service request. 

BMC Helix Digital Workplace supports the following catalog sources: 

  • Catalog designed in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog and fulfilled in BMC Helix ITSM.
     
  • Catalog designed in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog and fulfilled in BMC Helix Business Workflows.

  • Catalog designed in BMC Service Request Management,  imported to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog, and fulfilled in BMC Helix ITSM.

Starting with the 21.3.02 patch, BMC announces changes related to the availability of BMC Service Request Management that might affect your use of BMC Helix Digital Workplace. For new SaaS deployments, BMC Service Request Management is no longer available as the source of your service catalog.

Catalog designed in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog and fulfilled in BMC Helix ITSM

This capability is available with DWP Advanced icon.pngBMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced license entitlements.

You can design a service catalog directly in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog, also called as the native catalog. Native services can have fulfillments in other BMC products such as BMC Helix ITSM.

Catalog designed in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog and fulfilled in BMC Helix Business Workflows

You can design your catalog in BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog and connect it with BMC Helix Business Workflows for service fulfillments.

Catalog designed in BMC Service Request Management,  imported to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog, and fulfilled in BMC Helix ITSM

This capability is available with DWP Advanced icon.pngBMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced license entitlements.

If you create Service Request Definitions (SRDs) in BMC Service Request Management, you can import them into BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog. The imported service continue to have their fulfillments in BMC Helix ITSM
