Setting up user accounts and granting access to BMC Helix Digital Workplace


To leverage the BMC Helix Digital Workplace functionality, depending on the role, you must obtain the permissions. As an administrator, you can configure permissions for two types of user accounts so that people can manage settings in the Admin console or request services in the catalog:

  • Administrator
  • End user
Important

All user accounts are created and managed in Action Request System. For more information, see Foundation data model

Multiple users with the same user IDs written in different cases are not supported, as shown in the following example:

The following table shows the permission types available for administrators:

Role permission

MyIT Super Admin

A super administrator who manages the required settings of pluggable providers, switches between the subtenants and can grant access to other administrators.

MyIT Admin

A standard administrator that manages settings in the Admin console. Standard administrators cannot modify the required settings of pluggable providers.

  • (DWP Advanced icon.pngBMC Helix Digital Workplace Advanced license only) External administrator

An administrator who configures, manages and exposes an external portal to external users. Opposed to a standard administrator, the external administrator can enable only a limited set of features for external users.

The following table shows the permission types available for end users:

Regular end user

A regular user who performs work assignments in the application; for example, browses the catalog and requests services or reviews the status of submitted services.

A user who has limited access to the features and can use the external portal to request simple services.
