To enable natural language searching

The natural language processing feature is currently available as a Beta feature.

Important

Natural language searching is available for English locale only and can be enabled on mobile devices.

As the BMC Helix Digital Workplace administrator, you can enable natural language searching. This feature is enabled by default.

Natural language searching enables end users to search in BMC Helix Digital Workplace by using conversational language (such as I need to order a new laptop) instead of a keyword-based search. The search engine picks up the meaning of a sentence or word group, recognizes the end user's intent, and displays more accurate results compared to the standard search mode. Natural language processing makes search more end-user oriented and easy to use. This option reduces the time spent on searching because it defines the category of the end user's intent. To enable natural language search:

  1. In the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin console, navigate to the Configuration tab.
  2. Click Search
  3. In the Natural Language Searching section, click the Enable toggle key.

  4. Click Save.

If the Natural Language Searching feature is enabled, an end user can see:

  • Additional resources in the Related items section.
If there are no additional results, the Related items section is not displayed. The following image shows the Related items section:

  • Remaining results in the See more section.
The See more section shows the first three results found in each category under summary sections. The following image shows the See more option in BMC Helix Digital Workplace:
