Importing automation scripts from the library


BMC provides default scripts for integrating with external systems and performing various functions. For more information about the supported integrations, the various scripts available for that integration, and the tasks that you can perform using each script, see Integrating.

Starting with BMC Release Process Management version 4.6, you can change the status for your automation scripts. For more information, see Using-status-of-objects.

Before you begin

Before you start importing automation scripts to perform functions in a particular external system, you must first configure the external system to integrate with BMC Release Process Management:

To import scripts from the library

  1. On the Environment menu, click Automation.
  2. Click Import scripts from Library on the right pane.
  3. On the Import automations scripts from Library dialog box, perform the following tasks:
    1. From the To use as list, select one of the following options:
      • Automation: Select this option to import the available automation scripts. By using automation scripts from the BMC Release Process Management user interface, you can perform various actions in the integrated external systems.
      • Resource Automation: Select this option to import the available resource automation scripts. By using resource automation scripts from the BMC Release Process Management user interface, you can retrieve the necessary data for operating automation scripts.
    2. From the Category list, select one of the following options:
      • BMC Application Automation 8.2 — Select this option to import all the scripts available for version 8.2.00 of BMC Application Automation.
      • BMC Remedy 7.6.x — Select this option to import all the scripts available for version 7.6.04 SP2 of BMC Remedy IT Service Management.
      • General — Select this option to import all the general scripts available with this product. 
      • Hudson/Jenkins — Select this option to import scripts available for the Hudson tool.
      • RLM Deployment Automation — Select this option to import all the scripts available for version 4.3.00 of BMC VaraLogix Q Deployment Automation.
    3. From the Integration Server list, select one of the configured integration servers.
    4. After you specify the automation type and the external system, a list of available scripts is displayed. Click Preview preview script.jpg next to one of the scripts to see a preview of that script.
    5. Select one or more of the scripts that you want to import and then click Import at the bottom of the list of scripts.
  4. (Optional) Change the imported automation script status to a state other than Draft if you want to make the script available for other users.

To change the automation script status

  1. Go to Environment > Automation
  2. Find the appropriate script in the automation scripts list
  3. For the required automation script, in the State Change column, click << or >> next to the appropriate status
