Types of channel or channel template processes

There are three types of channel/channel template processes:

  • Group Synchronization
  • Configuration Check
  • Configuration Drift

When you run the synchronization process on the channel template level, the Group Synchronization process starts, and the Configuration Check process starts for each channel with the same channel template. If the configuration differs from the previously synchronized one, the Configuration Check process reports about a drift and is stopped. Then the Configuration Drift process starts. If there is no Configuration Drift process specified for a particular channel template, the Configuration Drift process does not start.

When you run the synchronization on the channel level, then only the Configuration Check process starts. If the configuration differs from the previously synchronized one, the Configuration Check process reports about a drift and is stopped. However, the Configuration Drift process does not start even if there is a drift process defined for a channel template from this channel.
