Using the MainView SRM HSM views, you can use one of the following methods to generate reports about DFSMShsm activities in your enterprise for a time period that you specify by:

  • Setting the TIME command
  • Entering a number in the HSM Days field on the data-entry panel for the view

For information about using the TIME command, see the Using-MainView-products or type Help TIME on the COMMAND line to access online Help.

For more information about using the MainView SRM HSM views, see:

Data-entry panels

Each menu option on the EZSRMHSM Menu advances to a data-entry panel on which you can specify filter criteria to tailor the report. For each filter criteria that you enter on the data-entry panel, a SETSRM keyword is invoked.

On each data-entry panel, use the slash character (/) as a wildcard to represent one or more characters in the data set name. All other fields can be masked with the asterisk character (*).

Success

Tip

Regardless of whether you specify tailoring criteria, press PF3 to display the view.

The following table describes how the data-entry fields work.

 Data-entry field descriptions

Data-entry field

Usage explanation

APPL

None

You can enter the Storage Guard Control Application name used for filtration for the following EZSRMHSM views:

  • Backup data sets (HSMBKDS)
  • Backup DSN versions (HSMBKVR)
  • Migrated data sets (HSMMGDS)
  • TDSDD (Tape management data set details by DSN view)

CATLGVER

SMBKVR

You can enter a Y to display all backup versions of data sets or a N to display backup versions of data sets that were not cataloged at the time of backup. You can also enter ONLY to display only backup versions of the data sets cataloged at the time if backup.

DSN Mask

DSN

You can enter a data set name or mask.

HSM Days

HSMDAYS

You can indicate the number of days (up to 2 digits) that the resulting report should cover. A value of 1 means the current day. When this field value is used, the time covered by the view always ends with the current time of day and backs up in time according to the supplied value.

The day is defined by the DFSMShsm cycle, which is defined by the time of day that HSM AutoBackUp is run. When HSMDAYS value is set to 1, the report coverage ranges from the current time back to the most recent run of AutoBackUp (usually the morning of the current day). For more detailed filtering on time of day, use the TIME command. See also the global HSM_DAY_TOD keyword for more information.

HSM Host ID

None

You can enter the 2-character identification of the HSM host that processed the DFSMShsm activity.

Group/Pool Mask

GROUP

You can enter a 30-character storage group or pool name or mask. Only data sets that are on volumes in the group are selected for the view. The value that is entered here sets the GROUP SETSRM keyword.

Group/Pool Type

GROUP TYPE(POOL)

You can enter the type of group that is specified in group/pool mask. Values are SG (Storage Group), P (Pool), or SP (Subpool). To view all records of a specific type, you can enter a group/pool type without specifying a value for group/pool mask.

RETNCPY

HSMBKVR

You can enter a Y to display retained backup copies or a N to not display retained backup copies. You can also enter ONLY to display only retained backup copies.

SMS Indicator

SMSIND

You can enter a Y for the report to include only SMS data sets or enter an N for the report to include only non-SMS data sets or asterisk to include both.

SMS Mgt Class

MGMTCLASS

You can enter an 8-character management class or management class mask. Only data sets that are assigned to that management class are selected for the view. Mask values may be used in the MGMTCLASS value.

SMS Stg Class

STGCLASS

You can enter an 8-character storage class. Only data sets that are assigned to that storage class are selected for the view. Masking characters can be used.

System ID

SYSID

You can enter the 4-character identification of the system where the DFSMShsm activity occurred.

Primary commands and action line commands

This topic lists the primary commands and action line commands that are available to most DFSMS HSM views.

Commands that are used with tagging do not accept parameters. Primary commands are entered on the COMMAND line, and action line commands are entered in the CMD field. Place you cursor in the CMD column and press F1 to display online Help that describes each available action line command for a specific view.

The following table describes the usage of primary and action line commands.

Generating RLST statements

In the HSMERDT view, the GRL line command generates RLST statements that you can use in an automation solution. The statements are based on values in the selected row.

  1. On the COMMAND line enter GRL.The generated RLST statements will be placed ahead of the statements from the active AUTOHERR RLST member in an edit session.
  2. As required, alter the generated statements.
  3. When finished, save the member by pressing (PF3).After the member is saved, a dialog will display giving you the option to refresh the active AUTOHERR RLST member. If you choose not to use the generated statements, you can cancel the edit session and the member will not be updated.

The following figure provides an example of generated statements. The generated statements might not include all the possible keywords that can be used in the AUTOHERR RLST nor do they include all possible actions that can be taken. The generated statements provide an outline of a solution and should be customized for your needs. For example, the AE_DSN keyword in the  Example of edit session created sites a fully qualified data set. That might be too specific to produce the result you are looking to achieve. Therefore, changing that value to something more generic like BITAM/ might be more appropriate.
