FDR/UPSTREAM Operation
As described in Overview-and-installation, the central point of control for FDRPAS for TCP/IP is the z/OS started task. After the initial “manual” stopping/starting of the started task during the testing of FDRPAS for TCP/IP, the startup process is then usually initiated automatically during the z/OS IPL process. This is usually done via a PROC (usually called “USTPAS”), stored in a system PROCLIB.
Once the started task is up and running, there may be numerous occasions when an operator or administrator needs to communicate with the FDRPAS for TCP/IP system. Examples of this interaction with the FDRPAS for TCP/IP started task include:
- Starting (Starting-the-FDRPAS-for-TCP-IP-z-OS-started-task) and Stopping (Stopping-the-FDRPAS-for-TCP-IP-z-OS-started-task) the z/OS started task
- Viewing status displays (see Status-Display-MODIFY-Command)
- Controlling FDRPAS for TCP/IP sub-tasks (Terminating-a-Subtask)
- Controlling multiple FDRPAS for TCP/IP started tasks (Terminating-a-Subtask)
