FDR/UPSTREAM Operation

As described in Overview-and-installation, the central point of control for FDRPAS for TCP/IP is the z/OS started task. After the initial “manual” stopping/starting of the started task during the testing of FDRPAS for TCP/IP, the startup process is then usually initiated automatically during the z/OS IPL process. This is usually done via a PROC (usually called “USTPAS”), stored in a system PROCLIB.

Once the started task is up and running, there may be numerous occasions when an operator or administrator needs to communicate with the FDRPAS for TCP/IP system. Examples of this interaction with the FDRPAS for TCP/IP started task include:

  • The various topics of this section describe the mechanisms and commands that can be used by an authorized operator or administrator of FDRPAS for TCP/IP to communicate with the z/OS started task.
  • Throughout this section it is assumed that the PROC installed in your system procedure library as part of FDRPAS for TCP/IP installation (Copy-and-update-the-USTPAS-UPSTREAM-for-FDRPAS-PROC) has been called “USTPAS”.
