Working with FDREPORT

FDREPORT Generalized Report Writer, is a generalized report writer that can generate custom reports on DASD and TAPE related data, in which you can generate simple reports with simple control statements, or complex reports using the great power of FDREPORT.

Important

We now support offloading zIIP eligible work to IBM’s z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) whenever possible. This support is limited to the following types of reports: 

  • ABR FORMAT VTOC REPORT

  • STANDARD ARCHIVE REPORT

  • CONTROL BREAK REPORT

  • GENERATE CUSTOM REPORT

  • HEXADECIMAL RECORD REPORT

  • SUMMARY REPORT

  • INDEX/DEVICE LEVEL SUMMARY REPORT

  • VSAM EXCP REPORT

  • OS FORMAT VTOC REPORT 

  • ABR XREF REPORT

FDREPORT uses the USEZIIP parameter to determine whether report processing is offloaded to zIIP engines. See FDRMAIN started task parameter statements in Managing the FDR service address space for a list of supported report types.
