How Products Are Licensed

You will need to use the Product Authorization utility in the following situations:

  • for product trials and permanent licensing
  • when upgrading to a new CPU
  • when an authorized CPU fails

Although you do not need the Product Authorization utility for product maintenance and version upgrades, there are issues you must consider.
