Monitoring component availability options
The following table describes functions that enable you to establish and monitor component availability on your system.
Availability options
Option | Action |

TCP/IP monitor | Allows you to monitor the status and activity of your TCP/IP stacks. For more information, see Description of TCP/IP monitor views. |
Availability monitor | Allows you to establish and monitor critical resources, such as applications, devices, links, ports, and other resources. For more information, see Using-availability-monitor. |
Availability ping | Allows you to automatically ping an IP network device to determine its availability and provide device response times. For information, see Using-availability-ping. |
Description of TCP/IP monitor views
The TCP/IP monitor views provide detailed information about TCP/IP stack activity:

STACKS | Statistical information for each TCP/IP stack that is detected on a z/OS platform |
STACKIP and STACKI6 | IP statistics for the IPv4 and IPv6 protocols for the TCI/IP stack |
STACKICM and STACKC6 | TCP/IP statistics for the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) and ICMPv6 protocols |
STACKTCP | TCP statistics |
STACKUDP | User Datagram Protocol (UDP) statistics |
STACKSMC | SMC Statistics (valid only for version z/OS 2.1 and later) |
STACKCPU | CPU and paging statistics |
