Defining Trace options

Use the following procedure to define Trace options. The Tracing views provide TCP/IP header and data to help you diagnose problems on your network. These options define whether any data might be overwritten during a Trace.

To define Trace options

  1. From the Utilities section of the EZIP menu, select Product Administration (EZADMIN) and press Enter
  2. From the EZADMIN menu, select MVIP Config Settings (MVIPCNFD), and press Enter.
  3. To enable or prevent wrapping of the Trace data when reaching the end, enter ON or OFF in the following fields:
    • Dattrace Wrap
    • Osatrace Wrap
    • Skttrace Wrap
    • Pkttrace Wrap

      Warning

      Important

(BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2304) You can override this field when starting a Packet Trace by using the Wrap Trace option on the Packet Trace view (PKTTRACE). For more information, see Starting Traces.

  4. On the MVIPCNFD view, add the Trace Name Pattern and Trace Volume Serial fields. For more information about allocating names for Trace files, see Patterns for allocating Trace files.
