Controlling OSA and Network Express data collection


(BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2510) BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IP provides the Open Systems Adapter (OSA) and Network Express information that you need to monitor your network. 

 

You collect data by using the OSA/SNMP interface (IOBSNMP). For more information, see Customizing z/OS services for OSA data collection

OSA views show the following information about OSA devices. 

  • OSA configuration information
  • Utilization statistics
  • Network device details
  • Network link details
  • Ethernet-like statistics

BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IPparameters control whether and how frequently to collect OSA data.

To control OSA data collection

  1. From the Utilities section of the EZIP menu, select Product Administration (EZADMIN) and press Enter.
  2. From the EZADMIN menu, select the MVIP Config Settings and press Enter.
  3. The MVIPCNFD view is displayed.

    Warning
    Important

    If you are using the SSI context, then the MVIPCONF view is displayed. Select one of the system names, and press Enter.

  4. In the MVIPCNFD view, specify whether to collect OSA data. Valid values are as follows:

    • ON enables data collection.
    • OFF disables data collection.

To control OSA data collection by using SNMP API Manager

  1. From the Utilities section of the EZIP menu, select Product Administration (EZADMIN) and press Enter.
  2. From the EZADMIN menu, select SNMP API Mgr Settings and press Enter.
  3. The MVIPSNMD view is displayed.

    Warning
    Important

    If you are using the SSI context, then the MVIPSNM view is displayed. Select one of the system names, and press Enter.

  4. In the MVIPSNMD view, configure the following fields:
    Field

    Description

    SNMP API Manager

    Specifies whether SNMP API Manager is enabled. Valid values are as follows:

    • ON enables data collection.
    • OFF disables data collection.

    SNMP Interval (mins)

    Specifies the interval in minutes between the runs of the subtask that collects OSA data

    Config file Name

    Specifies the SNMP Manager API configuration file
